Yes, midwives kick ass, but so do my friends! I logged on quickly tonight to just randomly check up with a few friends who blog, and I ended up staying up a little past my bedtime. Well worth it to read such reasoned, well-thought-out, insightful, and comprehensive posts. I could learn a thing or two here...

What I've been saying for years, only she says it much better

Please read this post, written by a local friend of mine. I've been ranting about this in a much-less-eloquent fashion for years now. This is why i don't generally get all ra-ra over things like nurse-ins. The real reason why there are such low bf rates in this country is summed up very well in this entry! It's not the lack of support of the public that keeps women from successfully breastfeeding. No amount of t-shirts or signage or should-we-cover-up-or-not debates is going to help until this major problem is addressed. It's so frustrating when it's all info that has been WELL DOCUMENTED and WELL REPORTED. Bring that up to a certain ped in Norman, and she will say, "That LLL has done it again!" in front of a waiting room full of patients. Oh, the insanity.
